NoFit State Circus
Dear Rosemary Butler I am replying on behalf of NoFit State Circus regarding the review of the Contribution of Arts & Sports to Community Regeneration which is being undertaken by the Committee next year. NoFit State Circus has a long and involved history with community arts participation not only in Cardiff, South Wales and the Valleys but across Wales over more than 15 years. At present we are extremely short staffed and pushed for time, and although it had been our best intention to write a full contribution set out to cover the points you will be covering, our Director has just not been able to find the time to do this. However, we would very much like to ensure that our interest is registered, and to let you know that we have only ever had extremely positive and enthusiastic feedback from the community work we have carried out with young people, in youth centres, in schools, with adults with learning difficulties and a myriad of other groups. We have found that circus arts and skills have had huge benefits to all, but are particularly appropriate for children with attention difficulties, low academic achievers, and in communities with marginal facilities for activities for young people. Are work also involves teaching young people about performing and working in teams and this too has been very positive. We believe strongly that community arts is a vital part of developing and improving communities in need of regeneration. I am sorry that we have not been able to give a full and considered response to the Committee's request for submissions and wish you all the best with the project. We would be most grateful if you could keep us on your mailing list should there be any further up-dates on progress. Yours sincerely Cathy JonesAdministrator
