I hereby enclose a response to the consultation on the Proposed Local Government (Wales) Measure.

Part 2 – Section 37

2(b) identify long term objectives in relation to the area for contributing to the achievement of sustainable development in the United Kingdom.

Since the Assembly Government has stated its commitment through ‘Iaith Pawb’ to creating a bilingual Wales there is an opportunity via the Community Planning Process to contribute to this strategy at a local level.  It is therefore appropriate to include ‘promoting the Welsh Language’ under section 37 2 (b)?
