Petitions Committee (2007 - 2011)

The role of the Petitions Committee was to consider petitions referred by the Presiding Officer in accordance with Standing Order 28.8

The Committee ceased to exist from midnight on 31 March 2011.

The Petitions Committee published a booklet on 29 March looking back at the Committee’s work over the past four years and looking at how the petitions process worked.

The Petition Committee’s last meeting before dissolution was on 29 March. Petitions that are still open on 31 March will continue into the next Assembly. However, as no committees will exist during dissolution, consideration of petitions will start again only when the new Committee has been appointed.

The National Assembly for Wales launched its ePetitions system on 15 April 2008. This exciting development will allow Petitions to be hosted on the Assembly's website, and will allow people to sign petitions electronically.
