I'm Karen Sinclair, and I'm very proud to have been the Labour AM for Clwyd South, in North Wales, since 1999.
I came into local politics, and eventually became an Assembly Member, because I saw the local community I lived in and felt it could be made stronger and fairer, with more chances being made available for young people.
Through work that I've done with my colleagues on the plenary floor and by sitting on various Assembly Committees since 1999, including Health and Agriculture, I'm glad to say we have seen major changes in areas like Wrexham and Denbighshire thanks to funding from the Assembly.
New schools and community centres have been built; older people as well as disabled people in Clwyd South have free bus travel, and prescription charges have been abolished for everyone - to mention just a few.
During the next Assembly I will be sitting on the Sustainability and Rural Affairs Committee and also continuing my work with the All Party Group on Deaf Issues. Also as Chair of the important URBAN II Committee, I hope we can continue making a big impact in using European funding to regenerate areas of West Wrexham.
I hope that over the next few years we can use the new powers the Assembly has just been given can help do even more for urban and rural communities in areas like North East Wales.
