My name is Alun Davies. I'm the Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales. I was originally born and brought up in Tredegar in South Wales but I've been living in Aberystwyth for the last 20-odd years.
I was educated in Aberystwyth in the university where I studied Politics. After graduating I was president of NUS in Wales for a few years before working for WWF - the Worldwide Fund for Nature; for Oxfam and for Hyder - Welsh Water.
I also worked in the Atomic Energy Authority and I set up my own business - 'Bute Communications' before being elected to the Assembly in the elections in May 2007. Since getting here I've spent half my week in the region in an office in Carmarthen and half a week here in the Assembly.
I sit on the Assembly's Sustainability Committee, I chair the Rural Affairs Committee and I also sit on the Finance Committee and the Subordinate Legislation Committee. In terms of what I try do every week, is to bring a voice; a strong, vigorous, articulate voice from Mid and West Wales to speak on our behalf here in the Chamber and also in Committees.
My main office is in Carmarthen. I commute back and forth to Aberystwyth and the work we do here, I hope will change and improve people's lives, wherever they may live in Mid and West Wales.
