Hello my name is Mick bates and I’m the Assembly member for Montgomeryshire, I believe one of the most beautiful parts of Wales. I’m the newly elected chair of the sustainability committee which will scrutinise all issues connected with energy rural development planning and sustainable development. That is a role I’m really looking forward to and that is why I came into politics to actually change things and to get things done so I think the new powers we have in the Assembly is immensely important.
I was born in England and came to Wales for love and I bought a farm eventually which I’m still paying. I have two children both of which are grown up one is married. My son looks after the farm and my daughter works in PR and Marketing.
Fi’n dysgu Cymraeg magu plant yn Cymraeg a fi’n falch a plant fi yn siarad cymraeg bob dydd. Wraig fi yn Cymraesa Prif Awthraes a dau ysgol fach yn Sir Ga?
I wasn’t always a farmer I was a teacher once before that so I’ve got a very broad range of interests. Sport being one of the main ones with rugby in particular but I am a great fan of Bob Dylan, I think he was the greatest poet of the 20th Century so if you want to argue about that get in touch.
